"A concealed carry permit holder, he told her to get down on the ground and then shot Jones in the back."

I really appreciate a man who understands the nebulous value of a fair fight. Nicely done, sir.

When taking down an aggressor, the safest vantage point is behind them. Excellent tactical decision on the CCW holder's part. I bet the miscreant hoped to catch the patrons of the sports bar at a disadvantage. Well, life ain't fair.

So true. I read somewhere that if you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck. Might be a little cheesy, but it also happens to be true.

In the immortal words of Judge Roy Bean, "If he wanted a fair fight her should have gone somewhere else."

Carry permit...like that would have had anything to do with his justification or the outcome.

When they added open carry, they changed the name from Concealed Handgun License to "License To Carry"... right on the top of mine it says "license to carry handgun"

As an aside, there are interesting contradictions in TX law... it's illegal to allow a minor to gain access to a firearm if it goes badly (accidental shooting, etc)... but if a minor uses a handgun to defend your home in what is otherwise a legal shoot, there will be no charges.

Also, because it was a bar- the good samaritan could be charged with a Felony for possessing a handgun there- licensed or not... any establishment that derives 51% of their income from alcohol sales is a barred from carry- and is a felony. (stupid law if you ask me, but I just got here recently)
ETA- some places refer to this as a Mexican restaurant- so I don't know if the 51% would apply or not- they would have a 51% sign out front if it did
