The morrison, golden, green mountain, arvada area got hit HARD. Saw a half dozen cars with broken rear windows on the way home, many more with lots of body damage. We had some customers that the hail went right through the roof of their office. Many friends with 1-2" hail in that area.

Here's a pic of a car with broken window and a big 'ol pile of hail in the background near Kipling and Alameda. Zero hail south of Jewel on Kipling. It's crazy how hail storms can have such a defined border.

We have a new gal in our office from Texas. She was pretty concerned. We had a bunch of pea sized hail downtown. I told her that was nothing and something we see every spring, multiple times. Need more than pea sized hail to hurt the car. I've come to expect major hail storms this time of year...you could put money on it.

Negative, comprehensive (comp) claims should not affect your rates

Texas has the worst hail in the US. Last year I was doing a claim up in Golden (the same neighborhood just got trashed again today) and the lady was fresh from Texas. She was going on and on about how bad the hail was. The adjuster and I were looking at her like she had two heads. I told her, "Texas get much worse hail than here, they just had one of the worst storms in history." She didn't believe me.

Read an article recently that said Texas had the most damage in dollars and South Dakota had the most claims per capita. Colorado was 3rd in both.

Just for clarity, my reference was the storm in Texas last year where hail was going through the roof, the decking, the insulation, the ceiling drywall, and then denting hardwood floors and cracking granite counter tops or tile floors. Once there was a hole in the roof, the entire house got water damage on top of what was probably already a $90,000 hail claim. I can see why the property damage was the highest.

I'm lucky to live where I live. Been here about eighteen years and haven't had hail at my place. My truck stays parked out in the driveway and I've never had a single ding from hail.

(Hopefully I didn't just jinx myself by mentioning the lack of hail in my area.)

My truck somehow went unscathed, which is unfortunate because a total would probably be the best thing to happen to that thing.

It's more spread out there. They have bigger storms, but they may not hit the same area two years in a row. These sorts of storms seem to hit the metro area somewhere each year.
