    Default FBI Investigation Techniques

don't know if anyone saw the "Frontline" episode last night re: Cliven and Ammon Bundy where the FBI posed as a documentary film crew, but here's an interesting story about another one of their "investigations" from Glendale

You would think the people screaming bloody murder about this would be real journalists.

After all, who the hell is going to talk to anybody who purports to be a journalist after it becomes apparent that he or she might actually be an FBI agent or other law enforcement?

I realize there is no Constitutionally recognized "privilege" that would prevent evidence gathered like this from being admissible but it seems to violate an unspoken "gentleman's agreement" between law enforcement and the media. And it seems entirely likely that it would have a "chilling effect" on the press.

I guess I'm just surprised that I'm only hearing about this now.

They should have continued with the prosecution process until he fessed up as to what his real objectives were.

If he was actually asking questions and doing investigative work, it should have been obvious that he was not a real journalist.

Sounds to me, and I'm not an expert by any means- but reading the story, sounds like Mr. Iranian High-Rise dude is the subject of some super secret FBI investigation, and they didn't want to disclose to the local PD that this guy was a Feeb. Pretty intriguing nonetheless. I'm thinking perhaps Mr. Persian Rug store owner is a possible terrorist.
