Damn Thornton Thieves...Stuff stolen out of garage

So, just a heads up for other folks on here that may be in the North Metro area.

I went out to take my son to school on Tuesday, and my garage was wide open. We went to go look, and everything was there except two of my bugout bags which were filled with gear...

My motorcycle with keys was there, mountain bike, my bow, a plate carrier all there fortunately. But still sucks.

So if anyone comes across anyone trying to sell an Eberlestock Gunslinger or another ruck filled with gear (clothes, probably 15 30rd Pmags :-( , machetes, camp stoves, etc), then they might be mine.

In the area near 120th and Colorado.

Windows on garage so that they can peer in? That kind of thing sounds like maybe homeless prepping for late winter storm or just random thieves but suprise they dont take the other stuff.......

Garage unlocked or an automatic that they had to spring open vs chance you left it open?

I'm paranoid about anything not being in the house and secured. I hate even having to have my truck outside which is empty but for bungee's. Very little even in my attached garage. I actually miss having a schedule that someone was always home. Even being in a pretty low crime area, the thought of it bothers me often.

I got some keychain remotes for our garage door. They are so sensitive that it opens the garage door from my pocket. As soon as I get home, I take my keys out of my pocket and set them on the night stand since I'm also paranoid about the garage being open. I've left it open a few times myself.

Thanks guys, yeah it sucks...

No windows on the garage, and it's automatic, so I'm not sure how they got it. I did change the lock on the garage though just in case.

If they have a handful of remotes they could likely get lucky.

Switch up your remote codes, usually the opener and remotes have DIP switches that you can set.

I was wondering the same thing.

Seems like anyone who went through any trouble to break into a garage would be looking to take something other than your bags. Makes more sense in my mind that it was left open and some neighborhood kids might have jacked the bags.

Damn, that really sucks bro. Even though I have a smart opener, door, glass, and motion sensors, I still make a habit of waiting to see the door close and stay that way for a second or two. I had a problem with my old opener when the slack adjuster nut backed off over time which loosened up the drive chain causing the door to open back up as soon as it touched the ground (most openers have "anti-crush" safety feature that makes the opener open the door if it senses any physical resistance from the door during closing). I didn't realize I had a problem until my home security system sent me a text saying the garage zones were triggered and the alarm co was calling at the same time. I knew I closed the door that day, but later that week I got home and closed it and the damn thing went right up as I got out of my car. Another instance was when we had some snow get under the door after shoveling and the damn thing wouldn't close.

On a side note, I did have some little fucks go through a car in my driveway on Monday. Made a mess, but didn't take anything worth much. I had a fresh bottle of Knob Creek that remained untouched. I think they only made off with about $2 in change.

#1 Targets of opportunity i.e. garage left open
#2 Remotes/keys left in vehicles parked outside
#3 Breaking in to the typical particle board side doors to the garage
