The Blockbuster was one of two video stores that Lima-Marin and his accomplice Michael Clifton robbed. They were convicted on multiple robbery, kidnapping and burglary counts. Clifton is still in prison, serving his 98-year sentence.
I wonder what his accomplice thinks about this guys walking.

I read the article and had a difficult time following the timeline of events. What I'm sure about, is that I'd take deportation over a prison sentence any day.

    Yeah, me too.

It's hard to wrap my head around how this guy can simply walk when the other guy, convicted of the same crime, is still serving his full sentence. He might be a nice guy now too. Hick looks like a dick here IMHO.

I guess since first guy was released by mistake, he got a real world opportunity to show he could turn his life around. Other guy didn't get that chance so he stays. Slippery slope for everyone.

I get it. "Slippery slope" was the words I thought to myself as well. So much for justice being blind.

Word is the pardon isn't legal as Hick failed to provide the legislatively mandated 2 week notification to the DA's office & judge.

District Attorney Brauchler issued the following statement in response:

“Colorado law requires the governor to provide 14 days for relevant parties -- including the district attorney and sentencing judge -- to respond to an application for a pardon. I have never seen an application for pardon in this case. We were not given the statutory time to respond, and we were not able to seek input from the victims or give them notice that a pardon was sought or being considered. The victims likely will find out like we did – on social media or news outlets.

“The pardon application form that the governor’s office purportedly requires applicants to submit clearly states that a pardon is available only after seven years have elapsed from the end of the applicant's sentence. This applicant wasn’t even out of custody seven days

“It does not appear the governor followed Colorado law. In fact, it appears this pardon is in violation of Colorado law and may be an invalid pardon.

“The hasty decision to ignore state law was made seemingly to skirt federal law, and that is not an appropriate use of the governor’s pardon power.”
But then again, when did laws stop a Dem from getting what they want? The pardon will stand.

Interesting that the DA that needed to be notified is a Republican gubernatorial prospect.
This has the potential to get interdasting.

I hope Hickenlooper gets a case of eggs on his face for this one....

Hick certainly does look like a cheap opportunist for anyone paying attention. It's worth reading the whole article and Brauchler's argument that Hick is violating the law. That another Dem running for attorney general thinks violating state law is irrelevant is very revealing, and damning.
