Default Outdoor range that provides steel targets near Denver?

Come on, DireWolf. Writing one check a year when I renew my membership keeps me in practice for writing checks. Wouldn’t want to go buy a house and not remember how to write a check.

As far as some of the yahoos who treat the ranges with no respect, shoot inappropriate targets, leave their mess behind, etc. that stuff irks me to no end. I was a member for many years at a private facility almost as nice as CRC (the longest rifle range only went to 600 yards due to property limitations) and we just didn’t see the kind of misuse of the facilities there that I see at CRC. In order to become a member you had to have a referral from another member. In other words unless someone knew you were a responsible shooter you weren’t going to be joining. Kind of eliminated the riff raff that way. CRC has no requirements for joining other than paying your dues. Any joe blow that wants to join can. Almost like a public range where anyone and everyone is welcome.

$65 a year at CRC, $100 work bond. $100 initiation. Steel on the silhouette range. Pistol, shotgun and rifle to 1000 yd. Beats the Boulder gun club $1000 initiation with 10 year wait list, $250 year renewal. Cherry Creek private club was $365 year renewal and an initiation and work bond last I knew.

CRC isnt so bad, I do wish the douchebags would pack out their trash and use approved targets though...........

We got a look at the "future projects" list at the MD meeting...close to $4M of wants. It might seem piddly, but trash pick up and leveling the East range berms when people drive in them when muddy costs money that the club can't then put towards improvements.

You all realize they spent close to $100K putting in the trailer pads on the East Range. You can make a weekend of it if you have an RV.

I didnt type that last line very well and may have caused confusion. I meant to say that the douchebags who do not clean up the trash they bring in and leave are jerks and the guys that shoot non approved targets and leave debris are also jerks. THis was not a slam at CRC management.

I hear ya, but it's not so much that as the fact that:

    1. I don't use/keep checks anymore, so it's a trip to the bank for a CC (which is how I handle that extremely infrequent need). I suppose I could order some new ones, just haven't felt the need to do so for a while...

    2. When my membership expired I had been on the road for a bit for work, and missed the renewal letter. When I reached out to get renewed/reinstated, I was told to mail a letter, request member renewal info, mail a check once that came back, wait for that to clear and updated membership info sent out, etc.; No option for accelerating the process was available, and rather than spend 3-4 weeks going back and forth via snail-mail (and comletely burning all the down-time I had at that point), I just signed up for membership with PSC in person that Friday (which although smaller than CRC, is a very nice range as well, and renewal is as easy as showing up on the weekend with a credit card...)

I will say that I don't remember having issues with trash, and always brought my own steel with me, but it's been a while.

That's my only real issue, and it is a great range; will likely re-join if/when the renewal process is updated a bit and when it becomes easier to coordinate scheduling for dynamic movement clearance (to be fair, scheduling challenges are mostly around my availability limitations)...

DireWolf, do you have a way to process an EFT or have a check sent from a bank checking account, or just no Checking account at all?

The trash/abuse of targets and such started to become a problem in the summer of 2015.

Should have had the new members actually go with the instructor to the ranges for a visual explanation of the ranges and how they operate. Oddly we had a lot of useless talk about turkeys and turtles. Was getting frustrating.
When did you get your renewal just wondering? I had issues last year havent seen it yet!
