Some of them look really crappy, but apparently others appear new/unissued.

Garand's own M1 sells for $250K, on the low end estimate.

Prototype Garand sold above for $150K.

Both were interesting and fun to watch this morning! Makes me wonder who is buying. I have seen much higher lots, but it's interesting to think someone spent this much.

Those prices seem reasonable. His personal gun, even at 250K seems like a bargain. Imagine Henry Ford's personal model T or something as iconic.

I honestly wouldn't know how to price it other than look at what buyers with that kind of cash were willing to pay. It's just astonishing to see some of those lots go for as much as a house!!!

The video says the initial sale from Garand's family to Coors was for under asking because they knew Coors had a significant collection and would hang onto it. Now it went to the highest bidder. Hope she found a good home!

I also thought it was interesting the prototype went for above estimate while the Garand M1 was on the low side. Maybe the market valued a unique piece that Garand likely worked on himself more than the presentation M1?

Even the gas traps fetch an interesting premium...

Aesthetically nearly identical to a "standard" M1. You have to really know your M1s to tell the difference. But $50K.

Other M1s in collectible (original) condition were more reasonable. There were a couple Winchesters the avg Joe could have won and they were beautiful!

Seems like there are better platforms for that caliber. Be interesting to know how it works in an M1.

Common now and multiple manufacturers making complete 6.5 Creedmoor in M1A. Not sure I would convert an M1.
I'm not sure I would even entertain the 6.5 Creedmoor any more. The current trend is moving now to the 6mm Creedmoor.

Not entertaining it but just curious if anyone picked one up and had an opinion. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to M1's, just my taste.

Any feedback here on the average condition of the Garands coming from the Phillipimes? Has not been many comments on this subject on the CMP site.

There have been a couple of interesting articles in the GCA Journal on the Philippine M1's.

I would strongly urge anyone interested in the M1 rifle to join the GCA. Only $25 per year and the quarterly journal is worth that.
