I took one of my M1s with a scout scope to the range a couple of Fridays ago. Set up a target at 300 yards (had a rangefinder with us). Pleased with the result.
Don't know why the picture is off by 90 degrees. I will try to fix it.

Guess I never saw this thread before.

Yes I own a couple. Love the platform. Ammo can be pricey but I have found some deals around. I usually do a zero out to 200 yards on my Garand irons. I am hoping to purchase another from CMP in the next year or so but would love to actually go to one of their physical locations.

We do a family shooting get together once or twice a year where the extended family shows up some shooters some not. They always bring friends and girlfriends. The M1 is always a very big hit with everyone.

That's one of the M1D's sold thru a lottery done by CMP in the late 90's. I got one, complete as you see it, for $675. Sold it for 4G last year. That won't bring as much since all of the parts are unwrapped and out of their wax paper, with the wax paper tossed.

Not surprised. Similar M1D went for $4500 last week on GB.

I paid about $600 6 years ago for a Service Grade M1. I definitely missed out in the 90's.

My first M1 Garand was a DCM purchase in the late 80's. At that time one of the quals was that you had to have participated in a DCM match and prove it. So I did. My first was a Springfield, over 6 mil serial number, one of the highest numbers known. Paid $165. Still have it.
