The department’s current Beretta handguns are more than 10 years old, and becoming obsolete, making replacement parts nearly impossible to come by, she said.

I didn't know it was hard to find replacement parts for Beretta 92s

    Caught that.
    Followed by:
One of them failed to fire during a training exercise, Shepard added.
    and then
Reynolds said police firearms are in high demand because they usually are well-maintained and only fired during training exercises.
I guess when you're talking to "reporters," you can say anything at all about firearms and they will print it.

Definitely cool historic guns, but not many will be able to afford $22K+collector's markup.

I had a modern semi-auto Auto Ordinance Thompson back in the early '90s - drum and all.
Fun range toy, but heavy as hell and eats like a draft horse. Traded it for my first AR.

When I inherited mine from my grandfather and was going through the process of transferring it to my trust ATF told me that there are only about 700-800 tommy guns that are available to be legally transferred according to their guidelines. 22k might not be such a bad price....

Saw this article the other day. It would be really awesome to have one and would be something that goes up in value. I'd probably spend more than $22k on ammo to feed the thing.

    lol
I don't think I'll ever get one of those. Maybe one day if I end up with another clone, starting to get touchy with an MP5 that's probably 30 years old at this point.
