    Default 458 SOCOM RECOMMENDATIONS

Putting together a 458 SOCOM AR as a pig rifle and looking to keep bullet weights in the 350-400 gr range. No plans to shoot the rifle suppressed. Barrel has a 1:14" twist.

I picked up Buffalo Bore's 350gr JFN and 405 Hard Cast ammo for hunting rounds, but we'll see how it shoots out of the AR. Also picked up from Black Butterfly Berry plated rounds as target loads and their 350gr Barnes TSX, as another hunting option. Don't know much about Black Butterfly ammo, but limited reviews I've read seem to indicate it is quality ammo.

I don't plan on reloading this caliber but that may change if I spend a lot of time behind it.

    Any others?

Ive shot a bunch from Load-X,
I use the 300 gr. HP for practice & blasting and the 325 gr. For punching targets accurately.
Finally got a die set o go with the 300 new cases that I have had for awhile. Bullets are next.

There was a good 458 SOCOM thread in the "Other caliber uppers, but it has dropped off the bottom of the list due to no posts for the amount of time the forum times out.
Ask a Mod if they can bring it back to life.

Interesting. Old school website where you fax or mail in your order. Like the idea that you can have them reload your brass for pistol calibers but doesn't look like that is an option for rifle calibers. Their reman 350gr FMJ 458 SOCOM load looks interesting and worth a shot for only $19.00 per box of 20.

Thanks. Saw where you bumped it. I could come across it with the search function.
