While driving 30 to 40 miles an hour it just downshifts on its own and then you got to get up to like 3000 RPMs For it to shift or just let off on the gas and shift it's never done that it did it yesterday.

Don't discount a factory crate replacement.

A friend has a 04 powerstroke with a faulty trans temp sensor, it will cause high RPM shifts and hard shifts...

I can't give you a quote but when the tranny went out on my Suburban I had it rebuilt by High Country Transmissions on Alameda. Cost was $2000 to rebuild and they said they rebuilt with a couple of improved parts over the factory original so it should be pretty good now. They offer a 12 mo/12,000 mile warranty and back in February when I noticed some leaking from the transfer case that turned out to be transmission fluid, they fixed it under warranty at no charge. I'd definitely recommend them.

I have changed the fluid and used K&W Trans-X along with lubeguard Dr Tranny instant shudder fix, with pretty good success.

We are talking 10's of thousands of miles worth of success.

    YMMV literally
