    Default Car opinions

My wife and I are looking at Hyundai Sante Fe or GMC Acadia. I've been doing some research on both but wondering if anyone on the board has either one and what their opinions are.

    Thanks

My dad has some sort of Hyundai. I think it's a Sante Fe. Was his wife's vehicle but he's been driving it since she passed away. Seems nice enough. I do know it's left him stranded a couple of times. Once was an alternator issue. Not sure about the other time. Of course that one vehicle isn't a big enough sample size to make a judgement about all of them.

My experience with Hyundai and Kia, both Korean imports, is that they are OK until needing maintenance. Neither is "home mechanic friendly", proprietary parts, bad designs, expensive to work on. Search the web using topics like repairing/replacing parts, axles, hubs, even lug bolts or transmission parts.

I would vote for GMC any day if you wanted to keep it running yourself for a long time.

I kind of like the GMC better for room but it will be mainly my wife's vehicle. We're looking at a couple different ones, about the same year, used, with about the same amount of miles. I have looked at a lot of reviews and just curious if anyone on here had some thoughts.

You might also consider the Toyota Highlander. It always rates #1 in class with Consumer Reports. Toyotas have always been known for reliability.

My wife has a Hyundai Santa Fe as her daily driver for several years now. Fits her and isn't overly large to drive (she hates driving my Tahoe). All wheel drive helps her get over her fear of driving in the snow. Maintenance hasn't been much of an issue. She follows the manufacturers recommendations for fluid changes as well as the timing chain.

My wife had a 2015 Santa Fe and traded it in for a 2017 Santa Fe because she wanted a white one. She loved everything else about it. We have had zero issues with either one and really like the car. It has a lot of features, reliable, drives nice, etc. If you get serious about a new one, PM me. I have friends that work at Arapahoe Hyundai and will take good care of you.

Friend at work; his wife's Hyundai had the metal shavings issue (seized engine)...took Hyundai about three months to fulfill the recall work.

We have the smaller equinox, this is our second and love it. Easy to maintain, good power for 4cyl, and is awesome, safe feeling car.

I went down with my good friend who bought his wife a traverse (same as Acadia) and they love it. She hauls 3 kids everywhere, puts on a ton of miles. No problems with it at all. She loves the size and the awd. Seats can fold so there is a ton of cargo space if you don't need the back row or sometimes she folds down just one seat in back, hauls a ton of stuff and still has 3 kids in back seats. Lots of power, never heard her complain and she goes up. I-70 all the time to evergreen almost daily and to empire a lot as well.
All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break em for no one.

    My Feedback
