    Default Interesting Ammo Can Experiment

Came across a video of an interesting experiment regarding the durability of plastic vs. metal ammo can seals, didn't see this posted here yet....

I don't find it surprising the metal ammo cans performed better. What surprises me is the guy put ammo in the cans. Why not put something of little value in the cans if you're just gonna leave them in water for a year to see which type of container is more watertight? That makes no sense to me.

Interesting experiment, but why on earth did he experiment using so much ammo and risking its integrity?

Meh, I prefer plastic. Do I plan on submerging my ammo in a lake for a year? Nope.
Will I get caught in a down pour once in awhile while out shooting? Maybe.
    Just a preference, that's all.

    Eh, his money.....

FWIW, I'll pick USGI steel cans every time, no use for plastic other than tackle boxes. But I don't intend to get them wet either.

I think more than anything the experiment shows the efficacy of the seal on the USGI cans. This has implications beyond mere water, allowing a better seal for long term storage with desiccant to offset humidity's effects on ammo.

That's generally what I took away from it. This had already been an assumption (which is why I almost exclusively use the USGI cans), but haven't seen any testing before to back that up...
