Default What is so special about artists?

I just got a survey from highlands ranch about a new building they want to build to bring artists to the community.

And today I heard on KOA the the city will let artists occupy substandard residential and commercial buildings while they are brought up to code.

What is so special about these types? Why do they get so much free money for producing stuff that offer little value to society? If their products were in demand, wouldn't they be able to make a living?

It's probably the same romantic vision politicians have with rail...

Art, when truly so, is definitely a cultural value add. Wiping one's ass with a saltine cracker and titling it "RNC appetizers" is not art.

Tax Breaks. The city can write off X $$$ under the guise of it and other give aways. There'salways the chance some developer has an intimate relationship with one or more of the city council.
Get the place built and occupied, then kick them out. Turning said art district in to Section 8 housing.

Anytime you see someone pushing to bring "artists" or "art" to your community, that's code word for leftists and leftism.

What they really want to do is bring in more leftists that will vote Democrat and suck off the tit of government (because most artists can't live off their art, because their art is shit).

I have an artist friend, I have an eclectic group of friends, that has a book called, "How to Steal Like and Artist." Being an Artist I think gives one some license to steal or something. Like teachers I think artist bring some value to our lives, but the self validated "I should make what a CEO makes" is delusional.

I lump "artists" into the same bucket as hippie pot heads and homeless people. I don't have much use for any of them in my ideal society.

Next time an "artist" tries to justify their entitlements, just remind them that Hitler was a shitty watercolor painter too.

Look at any art district in Denver. Started out low income and ended up gentrified. The artists will eventually get pushed out due to high rents by the artbags. My guess is the city sees it as seed money.
