Smart Gun isn't that smart
In addition to being easily fooled by repeaters and defeated by jammers, the Armatix can be fired by sticking a magnet to it.
Smart guns are right up there with solar powered cars.

When this came up some time back I stated that give me one and I will have a jammer and a universal key within months. This is exactly what I expected it to be.
Some time back the entire paintball league took a dive. The paintguns in the league were all electric with a locked program that kept the rate of fire under a certain limit. One team kept appearing to shoot way faster but when the refs would take the guns and test them it was within limits. They eventually figured out that there was a magnet in each players glove that disabled the limiter. This killed the entire league play just about the time it was starting to get decent TV play time.

People need to realize that the hack-ability (particularly the jam-ability) of these "smart" guns is a feature, not a bug.

I kind of agree, the ability to disable someone else's firearm is scary. Presuming we'd get to a point where all firearms are required to be "smrt" it'd be easy to assault you or break into your home and just disable all firearms around me. On the other hand if this were something that could (stress the word could) be perfected I think it'd have benefits too. I like the idea that if my firearm gets stolen that no one else could use it. Let's face it though people have been trying to perfect this with cars for a very long time and there is no answer that works 100%.Originally Posted by Zundfolge
