I dug out my old welding goggles and sunglasses, the pair together worked just fine. Now it is over and whoopee ...

Used a welding helmet, was just meh IMO, glad I didn't invest any extra time/energy into this event. Pretty cool that it was such a rare event, but the event itself was nothing to write home about.

Well, I thought it was a pretty neat experience. I'm at our place outside Palisade and watched as the light dimmed, as if the area was blanketed in smoke from forest fires. Inside the house which normally is light and bright, became rather dark. I used binoculars reversed to project the image of the eclipse onto paper and photographed it at the beginning and the end.
The peak here was about 11:17 a.m., and from about 11:00 to 11:30, I noticed that flocks of Gambel's Quail, Scrub Jays and doves came up to feed as if it were late in the day. The hummingbirds also came into the feeders in waves that are not normal during mid day. Interesting stuff.
The best shot I got was probably of the class hot mom.
