What exactly do you mean? Selling it? Adding a spouse or something (joint)? Gifting it over to a kid? Signing it over to a trust? Want an autograph of Barack Obama and the only sheet of paper available is your title?

Its basically the same as a sale, here is the instructions for the denver DMV, but I wouldn't see why its any different for any other county. You are changing the owner from a single person to multiple:

Strange as it may sound, if you call the DMV...they tend to be good about answering questions over the phone.

If it is newly (used car dealer) purchased and sold to you, with the temp tag about to expire. Just have her/him/it go down to the DMV to get the permanent tags for you. The only way they let my spouse do this is with both names on the title......

Is this some sort of attempt to appease the spouse?

Selling a vehicle with multiple owners will require both parties to sign off. Hopefully both of you will be on good terms if that day comes.

All of our vehicles (even hers) are titles in just my name.

If the other party is not with you , with proper, current I.D. you cannot do it. ALL parties involved must be on site for it to happen. It's all part of this Homeland Sec / TSA shit they've pushed. Spouse went in due to needing to correct middle initial on a title. CODMV told her i needed to be present as they couldn't do it. TSA crap involved.

Not sure what's happens in CO when it comes to update / renew. However when we applied here. To get the "star" which allows one to board a plane. Had to provide everything but a dna sample. Spouse had to provide marriage cert, both needed birth certs etc.

This homeland Sec has been out of hand, with them in the background of more stuff then people realize.

Exactly what Ray said. There is no benefit to adding the spouse to it other than probably having to pay a title transfer fee, waiting at the clerk and recorder and also having to have her sign off if/when you decide to sell it. IMHO, the less people on the title, the better off you are.
