    Other then active duty...

2 times when I lived in Las Vegas, one time some drunk walked into my living room and sat down in my recliner while me and the wife were getting ready to go out. From the sound of the door, the footsteps then the squeak of the chair I knew it was one person and where he was, I thought about grabbing the shotty but thought no it would be funner to beat him unfortunately he was to fast to catch.

I jogged every night like 10pm when I was in the DEP after my night school at the community college. I always carried a Springfield mil spec 1911. One night when running down Flamingo by the Gold coast some shits drove by and shot me with a paintball gun, at first I thought it was real from the pain and the splatter at night haha. Right after they shot me the stop light turned red about 20 yds away and traffic was so busy they couldnt go anywhere. I bet they never pulled that shit again, we had a little come to god style meeting.

Neighbor kid with a new BB gun... shot out the bathroom window as I was exiting the shower.
.22LR Flyer from Nowhere in the Right Bicep.
3 Armed Robberies at Shotgun Point... Retail in an Isolated Location during Christmas... they still would not let me carry so I walked... Filed Reports and Testified against all 3 perps... Repeat Offenders... All 3 Still in Canon City, to my knowledge.
Couple of Bangers driving North on I25 by Speer Waving a Flashy Chrome Automatic at traffic... Followed... Phoned Cops... Watched 'em get busted... Testified... Little S**ts got probation.
As I stood to stretch after a weapons cleaning session, before I could react, ex-girlfriend grabs my 3" .357, freshly cleaned and reloaded, off of the kitchen table, sweeps it across me (front to back) saying, "This trigger is too hard to p..." BOOM! She shot & killed the stove (thru & thru... lodged in the cabin's log wall... slug probably still there).. muzzle flash scorched my jeans on my wallet pocket... Bullet cut the stitching on the pocket, too... took 3 hours to find the cat... The cat was never the same about loud noises.

At work, I was a contractor for Comcast doing an install at some apartments in Fort Collins. When I walked in I seen the Beretta 92 and a bunch of knives on the floor by a sleeping bag. I didn't think much of it because most people I know keep a gun by the bed and I figured he was just moving in and didn't have furniture yet. While hooking up the cable and internet he started telling about his wife running off with some dirt bag, she turned his kids against him, and the final nail was identity theft. That's when he started waiving the gun around and going ballistic! He said they cleaned out everything he ever had and more. He bought the gun recently (not a gun guy) to protect himself because he thought it was his wife hiring people to do him in. I wasn't sure I would make it out of there before he went completely off the deep end!

Their have been a couple times working in greeley that customers (gangsters) had shown some firepower, but nothing really scary. I had the swat team show up at a job i was at a couple years ago. I had a guy go ballistic at some apartments a couple weeks ago and start kicking in doors but he didn't have a gun, 911 sent the fire dept instead of the cops do to his history of mental health problems?

My 2nd wife and I stopped to take a leak at a rest stop in Michigan on our way home after we got done shooting a wedding(I am a photographer) at about midnight. I wnr into the mens room and was in midstream when I heard someone come out of the stall and walk behind me. I then heard him say something, I couldn't quite hear him so I said "what?" and turned my head into an old revolver sticking in my face, he said don't turn around and give me your money. I reached into my pocket and gave him my $7 I had. He ran out and jumped into a car and took off. I could tell what sort of car it was by the tail lights. We called the cops and told them what happened. They caught them about 2 hours later after they were observed at a gas station with three of them standing around the gas tank in the car. they saw the cops and took off with their lights off, of course the cops didn;t like that and chased them until they crashed. They called me at about 3:30AM to have me come down to look at some articles of clothing they were wearing, I IDed them as what I saw him wearing. I never got nervous, for some reason i just didn;t affect me like it should have. Funny thing is this was in Jackson MI. and they were from Kalamazoo and wanted to go to Chicago in a stolen car from Kalamazoo. They went about 100 miles the wrong way east on I-94 instead of west towards Chicago. Dumb shits!

Back when I lived in Minnesota I had a friend that lived in North Minneapolis aka the ghetto... gangland.. whatever you want to call it, definitely no where I have been in Denver comes close to it. We stopped at his place on New Years Eve to pick a few things up while on our way up to Duluth to party. We were walking out to his truck in the alley and heard a bunch of shots to our right and looked over and about 4 houses down was a group of (use whatever term you like) shooting their guns at something.. I'm sure they were not shooting at us and likely didn't see us but it scared the shit out of us anyway.

    That's about it though..

Actually, bullet whizzed by hunting Whitetail in Wisconsin one season when I was a lad.
Mmmm, closest after that was probably numerous muzzle sweeps in the Military by dumbass remfs.
(I was a remf too, but not a dumbass)

I'd say the closest was when I was between the bad guy shooting at the Adam's County Deputy .... and him shooting back .. me in the middle ... Scared the crap outta me . heard the bullets flying both ways just over head as I dove behind cover.

    1. Nickel-plated Baretta 92 put to my forehead when I was 19 while being threatened. Never thought for a minute that the guy was going to shoot me, but it was still unpleasant.

    2. Friend of mine had an AD while hunting pheasants when I was 14. Close enough to feel the rush of air go by my face. I stopped hunting with him.

Was shot by my brother twice. Once with a Co2 pellet gun in the chest and the other was with a bow and arrow. Took a arrow in the chest as well. Luckily it was a long bow and we where real young and he couldn't pull it back all that much. Still got the scar from the pellet.

After writing this I think I owe him some payback...
