    Negligent Discharge.

As opposed to AD for Accidental Discharge.

Some people will argue that an ND is the ONLY one that exists.

I would be one of those people. No such thing as accidents with firearms. Just no room for that.

Only way it could be an AD is if the firearm malfunctions, like a slam fire. Anything involving finger on the trigger or the hammer is an ND.

Right. Or if it's laying n a table loaded w/o anyone within 25' and just goes off by itself. Thankfully, none of that stuff happens very often and as long as you are following the rules of safety then nobody gets hurt.

I saw an SKS slam fire at the range the guy loaded up the mag and let the bolt go(finger off the trigger) and it fire 4 rounds pretty fast. Turns out the firing pin had some old oil or greese and it got stuck and he did not clean it very good so it went full auto so to speak

Failed to keep his weapon in proper firing order, lack of maintenance. This is NOT an accident.

Improper maintenance falls into the category of negligence... not accidental. Gun safety includes properly maintaining and inspecting your firearm before use.
