Supposedly it is to divert funds from the current firearm taxes, that currently go to wildlife/wilderness type things. I suppose it's good that they aren't acquiring/spending MORE money, but I don't see how Udall made the decision to divert funds from cute fuzzy animals to shooting ranges without first having undergone a lobotomy. Seems fishy to me.

This news puts a smile on my face, imagining some of the rabidly antigun "leaders" around here.

What remains to be seen is whether this will be a justification to push out established ranges such as the Boulder Rifle Club, for example, who have to deal with a group of hostile rabidly antigun county commissioners.

The flip side is that new ranges could also take pressure off clubs like the BRC (with their crazy long waiting lists for membership).

Or this could fund/start another range 1+ hours away.

Interesting news in any event. If this gets coverage in the Camera, the comments section should be lively.
