This is going to be second term agenda. He know it will blow major votes for the next election, so he won't try it even though he's salivating to do it. He gets re-elected, he doesn't have to worry about that anymore, and he will try to push this legislation through.
Hmm. If so called "assault weapons" are already illegal in Mexico, I don't see how further restricting them here in the US will solve their problem. The marijuana, cocaine, herion, and other drugs that come up from Mexico are illegal here but it hardly makes a difference. Criminals are, by definition, people who break the law. If there is a demand for guns in Mexico, someone will find a way to meet the demand, regardless of the legality. To his credit, Obama wants to enforce EXISTING laws banning export of weapons into Mexico. This might be one of only a handfull of things he has said or done that make sense.
Na, Pelosi isn't an inexperienced local level politician like our current president. She saw the dangers to democratic elections for congress and second term presidency if he went down this road during his first term.
I haven't been afraid of gun or ammo bans at the federal level during Obama's first term. The majority of americans are tired of the gun law debates. I fear the possible 4 years of his second term. History shows this is where presidents attempt to push their unpopular agendas regardless of the majorities desires.
my opinion on this could be construed as "hate speech", so I will simply say I am against a new assault weapon ban and leave it at that.
Yeah. You're probably right Friday. God willing, he'll be a one term wonder. Unfortunately, I don't see him going away for the better part of a decade.
