I would look at a 22lr dedicated upper. I was not satisfied with the accuracy of the CMMG conversion and sold it. It was reliable if used with CCI Mini-Mags or similar. Issue was past 50 yards the accuracy was pretty poor. It also made the barrel and action quite messy.

That is something I'm considering along with maybe just going with the MP15-22. Appreciate feedback as I don't know anyone with the the conversion kit or the 15-22 or a dedicated upper either.

I thought the same thing. for the cost of a dedicated upper, you can likely get the 15-22. Unless you want a Compass Lake or really fine 22 upper, you should be good with accuracy and reliability. I even picked up 15-22 mags before the BS laws were enacted, still in the wrapper
