Thanks guys. I took it out for a spin yesterday for the VIN inspection and what a fun bike. The power is so smooth and it doesn't feel like I'm going fast at all. Much different than my Harley.
I do need to raise the bars and probably move them back a little as I'm not used to leaning over but the first farkles will be crash bars, skid plate and highway pegs.
The Harley is still around but at least I'll have this to ride for fun or when the Harley is acting up. I'm actually considering putting a Harley style tour pack on the back for my wife as she loves her "Throne" and is a little unsure about riding on the back of the V without one. We're planning a trip to the Grand Tetons next summer, just not sure which bike to take.

Just some tips for ya as I just sold a vstrom and had it for 5 years. Givi crash bars vibrate like a tuning fork. Get the ones from SW Motech or antihero brand. Rox Risers are great for moving the handlebars up and back, but you may need to replace the clutch and brake cables as the stock ones may not have enough slack. Also, an ATV bend handlebar works great. Finding a skid plate is difficult. There are a few for the 650, but not many or any for the 1000. At least I never found one that was priced reasonably. If you find the seat not to your liking, seatconcepts.com does a great job on the seat. A really nice and cheap addition is a fork brace. It really helps the handling. If you get a lot of annoying wind buffeting bouncing your head around, get a madstad adjustable windshield mount. Put many fun miles on my vstrom. All trouble free. Very reliable bike.
Here's a fantastic forum you will like visit. A wealth of info. http://www.stromtrooper.com
Thanks colorider. I have a fork brace on order already and was about to order the Givi crash bars until this. They vibrate that bad?
I found a skid plate for it already but it's $260 and that can wait.
I was looking at the ROX risers and they're high on my list along with the ATV bend bars.
On your madstad, did you use their windshield? If so, what size?
I'm on stromtrooper. Same handle as here.

I used the stock windshield with my madstad. I also swapped out my mirrors with Aprilia Tuono ones. Really helped the buffeting. I got them online.
Congrats on the new whip! Rock solid engine, the only issues I've seen is throttle body sync (at about 50 k) and one case of cam chain tensioner failure at about 80k. Change the oil regularly, and it will run virtually forever. I may be able to find a better deal on the skid plate, gimme a holler at the shop tomorrow 3OH3-21six-24hundred

I've always wanted a Vstrom.
Congratulations on a good looking bike!
