Default Broomfield Cub Scout kicked out after asking Republican state senator hard questions

    http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news...hard-questions

His Cub Scout den in Broomfield hosted Republican state senator Vicki Marble for a question and answer discussion on Monday, Oct. 9.

Talk about a loaded series of questions. Did the parent's write cue cards for the Scouts?

"Why do you (inaudible) black people for poor health and poverty because of all the chicken and barbecue they eat?" the scout asked.
"I was shocked that you co-sponsored a bill to allow domestic violence offenders to continue to own a gun,” Ames said. “Why on earth would you want someone who beats their wife to have access to a gun?"
I am sure a 5th grader came up with those all on his own...

The parents will also often do more than just provide a little help on their kid's science fair project....film at 11!

    Yup, complete set up.

But why did the Scouts boot him? That just pours gas on the special snowflake fire.

Had the same thing happen in DougCo schools. Little snowflake wanted to walk out and protest the "conservative" board members. They pulled her aside and counseled her without her parents. Shouldn't have done that. Denver Post (aka Chalkbeat) was all over them for months.

Just leave these snowflakes alone. They melt!

I'd be happy to answer the gun question... "We don't take away rights until a person is found guilty in a court of law. How would you feel if someone accused you of something horrible and society started punishing you without trying the find out the truth?"

Actually, it is pretty standard in every Colorado court that someone charged with any type of domestic violence is required to not possess a firearm. This condition is almost universally applied as a part of someone's release pending judicial action. I've even seen some bizarre and less than clever work around for accused who happen to need a firearm as part of their regular duties but that is a different discussion.

Bottom line, if things look bad, walk away. Avoid the possibility that you may be charged with a crime. Have as many friendly witnesses as possible, and create a plan to divest yourself of firearms in the event of a life changing event.

    Be safe.

A reality based answer but it's still unjust for the innocent accused and it violates the principle of innocent until proven guilty.

Punish the guilty mightily after a trial but spare the innocent and law abiding a denial of basic rights solely upon an accusation.

    As always, great advice!

I was speaking from a moral perspective why I would oppose that legislation and explain it to the Scout. Even though trolling, our leaders should be able to articulate a position and answer questions. No need to shut him up. Embarrass the parents with a great answer.

Reminding them that sometimes a husband is the victim, thus not wanting to disarm the wife either, and scolding them for their sexism would be icing. “Would we want the wife to a victim if the husband retailiated?”

ETA: Gen Z is up for grabs ideologically. That Scout might have grown up to see how petty and wrong his Lib parents were and fair the Conservstive was to him, even though trolling. Now it’s backwards. He’s a victim of injustice at the hands of Conservatives (or so he’ll think).
