Default Things That "Bug" Me: Part Two

I don't know what these bugs are. They fly in huge swarms. I mean by the multi-millions. They are so thick sometimes on the highway it almost completely obscures your windshield when you drive thru a swarm. Tonight they've decided to swarm at my house. They don't bite or anything. They are very, very delicate...like little puffs of light blue powder. The slightest touch will crush them.

It was pretty amazing to see this sight...they're swarming over about 3 or 4 acres. So dense are the swarms that you almost can't breathe if you walk thru it because they get in your eyes, nose, ears, throat...you can't take a breath without inhaling dozens of them. I'm glad they're not mosquitoes.

I would burn some brush in a drum. Bugs hate smoke. Bet they want in the house too.

Too damp right now. And they'll be gone before I could light a fire anyway. Weirdest damn thing I've ever seen.

Well I am glad they aren't "killer bees".

Exactly! Also called "dusky ash aphids". Wife brought home the Lewiston paper...front page had a story about how they were bad this year. Harmless, but annoying.

Aw, just knock it off with trying to dissuade anyone wanting to seek refuge in Idaho. Was probably Photoshopped.

Well, it was worth a shot!

But seriously...there is no shortage of bugs up here. Luckily mosquitoes are rare...which completely baffles me because it seems like it would be the perfect place for them.

Yeah, Montana has their fair share as well. Drove through a cloud of little suckers and.....there goes the visibility through the windshield. Since mosquitoes have to start their lifecycle in calm water, I'm not surprised that you don't have many. The water is either moving or the larvae are being consumed by fish.
