Meanwhile, the press reports that someone started shooting at the ANTIFA rioters and they were oppressed, despite every fucking round coming from ANTIFA rioters.

THIS is how reality works people. It's like gun "confiscation" - police or any other gov't entity will never do it, they will only grandfather it and wait patiently for you to fucking die. All these defensive fantasies are utterly retarded. You won't be at all comfortable when you have errant rounds coming from a crowd without a single thing in the world that you can do about it.

My fear isn’t them arming themselves with guns (though the blowback from some protest turned shootout would be terrible for our community), my fear is antifa and their ilk realizing they don’t have what it takes to engage with firearms so they instead arm themselves with ieds and other indiscriminate devices.

+1 on that. Same reason I work out (aside from health): in order to be better than a potential opponent. But frankly, I have no desire to get into a fist fight or any physical altercation. All it takes it one punch to the right spot and falling down and hitting one's head on a curb, etc., and you're done.

I've seen firsthand what happens when a society collapses and it's not pretty.

The antifa protesters are not what one would call rational, they are the definition of mentally ill, you could use them as the poster children of who should not own firearms. They will open fire on the least provocation and hurt people, probably kill innocents. They will injure and kill LEO too. Useful idiots is right and the leadership that is promoting it will not be held responsible when it happens. Antifa is the aggressor here, not the victim but they will play the victim with the help of the media, blaming you and I for the situation that they created.
