    Default 80% Glock Lowers

Thinking about trying my hand at building a Glock from an 80% kit like this:

    https://www.midwayusa.com/product/10...-23-32-polymer

Can this be done without a drill press and mill bit? Say a file or dremel tools?

Has anyone had success with these kits?

Not looking for assistance in building, so please don't lock.

And are these the only parts needed besides the slide and barrel?

    Thanks

    Absolutely.
There are several videos of folks completing these with simple tools.

One guy completed one on his bathroom counter with a dremel, some sandpaper, and a cordless drill. Another guy did it in like 30 min with a hand drill, some box end pliers and some sandpaper.

I've been looking at doing one. Just wanted a .22. Thinking that lower with one of the .22 slide kits would do the trick.

I have completed one of the compact size in your link and two of the full size pistols. I had no problems completing them. All the places where you remove polymer are in noncritical clearance only areas on the one in your link. The full size of the version I made required a couple of grooves that are kinda precision but careful filing is all it takes. The compact size has eliminated that step so all that is needed is to drill holes using the fixture and removing non precision chunks of plastic. The kit includes all the drill bits you need to finish it. The end mill makes it easier if you have a mill but isn't mandatory.

One of my full size frames had a flaw the showed up when shooting. I found a fix for that on you tube and it works fine now.

The parts in the links are all that you need to complete them. I found inexpensive complete 'upper' slide assemblies on gun broker from a gunsmith that made custom Glocks. They were new unfired takeoffs for about what a slide alone would cost. It was a couple years ago but it would be worth checking. Maybe posting on the wanted board here to see if anyone has an extra.

Ordered one, I was looking at them elsewhere more expensive. Looking for barrel slide and sights now. Thanks for the heads up.

    I've built several now.

They are easy, and create a great handgun. I've got 800 rds through the 19 I built on one, and I've had no issues. I built mine with a Brownells Slide and a Silencerco Barrel.

If you want OEM glock slide/barrel, look on ebay as well.
