Had a soft topper on a crew cab Silverado. I bought it because it was US made, Best Top is off shore. I liked the versatility. Roll up the sides, or fold it down, button it all the way up, whatever. Also, doesn't weigh a hundred pounds...Security? That fiberglass top is no less secure to someone with intent. It just keeps the honest ones honest. You can even sleep in the back, did so on a few road trips. Sold the truck with the top but would easily go that route again. +1 for Soft Topper.

The plan is to give the Xterra to my wife when I pay it off and buy a Frontier, this thread is making that idea sound even better.

I had a Frontier. It got horrible gas mileage for a V-6 with a stick shift. Never got better than 18 and usually closer to 15 around town.

What year? The generation I'll be interested in is the exact drivetrain as my Xterra, and it will do 23 on the highway, usually 18 or 19 mixed on summer gas (winter is closer to 16).

Mine was older. Can’t remember what year. It was a good truck. Had some sort of factory off road package. It was the four door with the short bed so the weight distribution was pretty even on both axles and it handled slippery stuff very well. The gas mileage was my only complaint. My full size Dodge crew cab with the hemi gets better gas mileage than that little Nissan did.
