Soft topper shell opinions

I have a 2017 Tacoma, and I'm kicking around the idea of getting a soft topper shell. I've always had tonneau cover but I like the idea of having a shell.

What brand do/ did you have? Was it worth the investment? Did you like it in general?

I don't have any experience, but I'm still kicking myself for trading in the Tacoma for an SUV, when I could have just gone the soft topper route for additional cargo space.

When I bought my 2001 Ford Ranger I had the dealer put on a Jason top. Glad I did it and would recommend it.

I talked to a guy who has had one of these for three years now - http://www.softopper.com/. He lives in the mountains and hasn't had any problems with large snowfall on the topper, he is very pleased with it.

I’ve had a softopper on my Tacoma since 2011. Really like it. Folds down in the front of the bed in about 30 seconds if I need to haul something oversized comes completely off in a few min if needed. Made in COif you can say that about boulder? In my opinion the window is the weak link, I’ve replaced that once, but it only cost $80. And it just zips in.

I had a Softopper on my 01 Tacoma and really liked it. Easy to deploy or remove from the bed and worked very well. I'd get another one if I ever get another truck.
My only complaint was you had to put adhesive Velcro strips on the tailgate for the back to seal. Hopefully they've changed that design.

Another satisfied Tacoma Softopper owner here. On that design point, since the Tacoma tailgates have a reputation for being week, I added a steel reinforcement with a wrap around/over the top feature. Since it's steel/magnetic, I added a hook-n-loop/Velcro strip backed by a magnet strip of the same width to the topper and attach that way. Can't take credit for this; found it on Tacoma World (excellent resource).

Not intended as a buzz kill because a soft topper appears to be a handy and economical cover, but I like the security of a lockable fiberglass topper. It will last longer, retain value, and better protect from the elements and casual shoppers.

I understand that, however if I went that route I would have an SUV. I like the idea of being able to sleep in it fit more stuff etc. Security isn't my intention I wouldn't keep anything valuable in there unattended
