H&R Handi rifle?

I was cruising the internet and came across this little rifle chambered in .22 Hornet. I always kind of liked the caliber. I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with these rifles. With a price point of less than $300 bucks, I can't imagine they are all that spectacular. But still, might be fun to play with. Any thoughts?

I've heard mixed reviews. My personal experience has been that the HRs are great single shot guns, the only negative I can share is I purchased a shotgun from them, fired less than a box of shells, and the stock was shaking/not firmly attached to the rest of the firearm. Took it back, the store sent it to HR, they fixed it and returned it with the problem solved.

i have one in .223 set up for my gemtech. 1/12 twist really likes the 55 & lighter stuff for accuracy. thinking of having them fit another caliber for me.

I have or had a number of these.
They can be a little tempramental. Some will shoot great others never will. Most shoot well.
The trigger is difficult to tune, but it can be done. To me this is the greatest downfall to the design.

Currently I have Ultra-Rifle in 22WMR and an Ultra-Hunter in 308

The WMR has taken prairie dogs in excess of 250 yards.
With the current price of ammo, it might be cheaper now to shoot the Hornet.
You may also consider getting the chamber reamed for the K-Hornet and wring out a little more velocity on your re-loads.

H&R 223 was the first rifle I owned. Accurate and easy on the billfold. I'd buy one again.
