For that Setup, 4-20 XTRii will serve you very well. The 8-40 field of view is so narrow, it's only really good for exactly what it's designed for. F-Class and Benchrest.

I've owned 2 of the 5-25's and 3 of the 4-20's and I like the 4-20 over the 5-25 as the overall package is a bit smaller, and the 5-25 seems to get fairly dark up past 20X so if it's not at it's best anyway, you might as well just get the smaller package at a cheaper price point.

Another vote for the 4-20 or 5-25. I have a few of them and echo what has been said. They are great for the money and track very well. Its a really solid optic. I would shoot any match with them. Plus Sky and crew at Burris are very generous in their support of local/national matches.

4x20 as others have already stated. Internals are over engineered and stout as hell. The 8-40 is 1/8 MOA clicks designed for one purpose as XC700116 stated. For the money you will not get a better scope. You can get 2 XTR II's for the price of a high end scope.

    Good luck with your decision
    will work for:
    bullets primers & brass

    XTR II 4 x 20 SCR
    XTR II 5x25 SCR
    XTR II 3x15 SCR
    XTR III 5.5x30 SCR

    Default 4-20 vs 5-25

I'm a bifocal wearing searching for a exit pupil type of shooter.
Would I be sacrificing anything getting the 4-20 instead of the 5-25? Would only be shooting at Pueblo and Fort Carson matches
Less weight and bulk would suit me fine too.

I do not think so. I prefer the 4-20 over the 5-25 for match shooting.
