    Default Leaving Youtube for Patreon?

Been following a few YTers that are leaving and going to Patreon. Is YT screwing the pooch so bad that "content providers" are going somewhere else? YT demonitizing pages and such.

Not into the whole YT thing but it sounds like a shiat show.

For those wanting to to see some monetary reimbursement for content, where is the best place?

I've seen a lot use YouTube and Patreon together, I think youtube's reach is hard to beat. But Youtube's monetization is a mess, so more of the creators are using Patreon to pay the bills.

Again I think Youtube's reach is too hard to find elsewhere, I know a lot of the gun community tried to start their own but as far as I can tell it really hasn't taken off. I'll be interested to see as time goes on and as Youtube seems to buy into the SJW mindset more and more...

I found this video which brought an interesting perspective to the whole thing too (if not a little tin foil hat):

My wife watches a lot of homesteader/prepper channels, and the majority tend to fall under the catch-all umbrella term of "Christian". The bigger ones are getting defunded and moving to Patreon. It's not just that YT/YT's AI is demonetizing, it's outright stuffing results down far in the list compared to before. The tendency towards perceiving oppression/victimization makes these folks believe it's because they aren't quiet about their faith in addition to instructional videos about prepping being "dangerous" to the NWO, etc.

Meanwhile, some moron who merely blabs about cultural fluff has no problems while these people devote $$ to good equipment, editing, etc., to bring solid life skills to a larger audience and get skipped by the AI.

Best video on YT below. I went to Patreon for an AR video and it redirected to YT...with a disabled YT video. Not sure how to make money with self produced video. And all the worlds a stage!

Youtube last year had a big shake up when advertisers were reducing or quiting them as they were essentially caught fibbing on some numbers. Numbers that were fibbed as a result of trying to manipulate popular but "wrong" viewpoints during the election and before. Reddit has a similiar history if you want to look it up. Because of that a ton of people got reduced payments or found themselves suddenly demonetized for random subjective things supposedly against TOS when not.

Then the added stuff like youtube heroes (look it up creepy), then this year announced openly aggressive curating that will filter search results and outright censor certain content. As a result, now a lot of folks find their video's when posted instantly "under review" or some term I forget. Essentially they can appeal it and in a week or two it gets monetized again, but in the meantime, the huge bulk of views come in the first few days so they end up losing all the proceeds from that.

Then you have outright censorship, you had MAC get demerits for TWO YEAR old video's explaining a bump stock. Likewise gun stuff has been facing after LA a lot of very random take downs and suspending of accounts. They also tend to go in waves of banning accounts with anti feminism/progressivism. A few big names will get tossed in. There will be an uproar and they are reinstated meanwhile a lot of up and coming people with a few million subscribers get lost in the bannings. They can restart and hopefully not get targeted again but they have to restart their following and while they get many back, they also lose a ton too.

Theres a lot of info on it, but I'm supposed to be getting ready for work not posting. I can maybe look up links for more info on it later. On another forum this stuff has spawned a google/youtube alternatives thread.

Oh another example, some folks for their career had google document books they were working on. One was again anti some kind of leftist topic, person is otherwise a somewhat known academic and not some giant right wing guy. Their entire google+ account got locked down with no access because of it's "hate" content.... hadn't even been shared/published yet...

Never even heard of Patreon. But I was going to play "I wish I was in Dixie" for a southern friend visiting and when I clicked on it Youtube gave me a warning that the content was offensive. I am actually no longer surprised by this but just irritated that whenever someone is offended they get their way.

Patreon is just a funding platform, not a video one ... so most people using Patreon are still hosting their videos on Youtube (although most smart ones are also putting them on other video sites just in case YT decides to go all purgy)

I have a friend who passed away recently who was a decently popular YT "star" who did videos of him train hopping across the country. He kept his YT active, but also had a Patreon where it was easier for viewers to donate money directly to him, and apparently they had a better "pay out" program for their content providers. YT has a lot of "big company" issues with content providers that a lot of folks are getting upset about. Google is a very cruel mistress.
