I didn't see the lights but am curious as to what they are now that I'm reading the news. Any insight?

Well I opened up the article (it was kinda click bait on their website) I was thinking it was going to be more of the mysterious loud booms that people heard a few weeks ago. But this is pretty interesting and I am quite curious.

Interesting. One time in my life I saw what I considered to be a UFO and it was also a line (actually a "V") of red lights. It was a uniform V that got more narrow as it flew over head, just like if a plane were folding it's wings in to hug against the fuselage or something. No sound, didn't seem high altitude, lights too far apart to be a fighter jet, but too close, and too uniform, to be different aircrafts. Over Golden, heading East, and about 15 years ago on Christmas Eve.

Supposedly it's a few .mil jets practicing. So far no one (according to the media) has said they heard jets flying overhead, just the lights.

I know it's far fetched but I like to think that Nellis AFB and/or Area 51 are testing some interesting new and secret aircraft. I remember seeing weird flying opjects/lights in different patterns and turning dramatically when I was a kid and would always think the military is testing something cool.

"That was a UFO, beamin' back at ya. Me and Eric Tysman was down in Mexico two weeks ago, we seen 40 of 'em flyin' in formation. They've got bases all over the world now, y'know. They've been comin' here ever since 1946, when the scientists first started bouncin' radar beams off of the moon, and they have been livin' and workin' among us in vast quantities ever since. The government knows all about 'em....."

That was also what I suspected at the time.

And centennial airport only reported 1 plane on its radar in that area.
