Gun prices dropped?

Probably not far off. I'm thankful every day that we did NOT get her as a president. I'm rather pleased with the prices and availability of firearms, ammo & components. I'd like to see it stay that way for a long damn time.

While most of the news for Black Friday sales centered on Amazon.com breaking all kinds of sales records and capturing an estimated half of all online sales, the FBI reported a different kind of record-breaking number: It processed more criminal background check applications of potential gun buyers on that one day than it has on any other single day ever.

The combination of the glut of guns, Remington going into the tank, folks trying to get rid of the guns they are bored with and the required transfer at FFL have really hurt the used marked in Colorado. There are 4 or 5 guns sitting in the Classifieds on here right now that, given a different time, I would snatch up, but I personally have 5 I don't want that I have had a hard time getting sold off.

+1. I have a few pieces that I wouldn’t mind selling, but at current prices, they are worth more to me as temporary paper weights.

Is this the good news the firearms industry was waiting for?

No, those sales helped retailers.
Most of which won't restock what they were "pushing" to get out of inventory.
Lots of guns were sold at cost, or the promise of rebates from the manufacturer.
The shops need to see the demand and have the money to order more guns from the distributors.
The distributors will place production orders with the manufacturers ONLY when they see enough demand to risk the restock.
The manufacturers only produce guns to fill production orders.
Without continuing demand from the retailers and their customers this will only get worse for the big firearms manufacturers.
Over the last 8 years lots of companies borrowed money to increase capacity and modernize their manufacturing methods.
Now due to the downturn in sales they don't have the money to re-pay the loans, and cover all the overhead of operating.
No one knows where the "bottom" is to this market.
OH, and do some simple comparisons to other manufacturing industries, the US firearms firms are relatively small.
