My 14 year old orange tabby starting to have bad kidney issues : ( Looks like I'll be giving him subcutaneous fluids twice a week to keep his fluids level constant. And the K/D (kidney-friendly diet) is not exactly cheap. I'm going to keep him going for as long as he's comfortable, though. He's been a fantastic cat- never scratched or hissed at anyone, serious hit with the ladies, etc. Love that guy.
This year I didn't get much, but I also won't complain about the things that I did receive.
As for the second part of your query, I would cite the "discount" brownell binoculars that my mom gave me some years back. They must have been dropped or something, cause when you look through them you feel as though you just got off a Tilt-A-Whirl.

We had a cat with urinary crystal issues. Had him on prescription food for a while. We found better pricing and more flavor options on http://www.chewy.com. Was cheaper with delivery than buying from Petsmart.

I wish technology solved people issues. It seems to just reveal them.

You guys are such pessimists. There's no such thing as a bad gift. Even if the gift itself is poorly thought out or useless it's the thought behind the gift that counts.
