The reason the whole system went into place in CO the way it is now was because CBI could check to see if you're the restrained party in a protection order (something NICS can't do). And since laws here state that if you are under a protection order that doesn't allow for you to be in possession of a firearm they wanted to ensure you weren't trying to purchase. I still think them charging a fee is BS.

Restraining order, that makes some sense. I couldn't recall why we went to the CBI check in the first place.

I doubt there is any recourse, I am not even sure who to voice a complaint to.

Complaining to the government about the government....where they make money? I can't imagine it would get much traction.

NCIS picked up a restraining order (bad info) on a relative several years ago during a purchase in TX (denied). The order was apparently for the same name, but in Iowa. My relative had been in the state one time, a decade earlier, to pick up a motorcycle from an auction. Didn't even know the name of the other person on the order. Had to send a letter to the court or something to clear it up.

From my understanding, and I could be wrong, NICS can't pull the most accurate RO info compared to what CBI can. Your situation sucks, and is regrettable. Sometimes mistakes are made, and cause headaches. These instances are horrible to deal with. Worse yet is when you encounter someone and the RO is still active in the system, but was dismissed weeks prior.

You would make a great Tier 1 customer service representative.

I thought that was part of my job description for my current profession.
