    Default Car Remote Start

Anyone have good/great results with a particular product/installation location for one of these? I was looking to have a decent one installed in the near future and I don't want to jack up the electronics on a new vehicle...

...and therein lies the rub. I was looking into the same thing with a new Mercedes, but the risk of voiding warranties and interfering with the electronics kept me away. With the modern electronics (infotainment systems), keyless entry, push to start, it all can get very complicated. I wish you well in your quest.

I remember dealing with that same issue with the wife's MB. There was a solution to the problem but I remember it to be rather expensive...

I did not see the fascination with remote start until I got my truck with one. It's a stock remote start that is smart enough to run the AC and seat coolers when it's above a specific temp outside. Or run the heat and seat warmers when it's cold out.

I don't think I would add a aftermarket remote start, because you will still need to run the heat on the night before to warm the car up. If you forget you'll have to go outside anyways.

I has a 2016 F-150 with remote start and it was too long to be a garage machine. The feature was nice to have on those below zero mornings to at least get some heat into the system before motoring off. I'm not quite sure how deep into programming the new remote starts can go as far as seat/heater/defrost...settings...

I was quoted north of $800 AND sacrificing one of the transponder keys($280) to get a kit installed on the Smart(which uses Mercedes CANBUS electronics) by Cartoys.

I used car toys for my 07' Cummins. They programmed it so I hit the lock button twice and that started the start sequence. Worked great and never had an issue with it.
