    Default Gen 3, G19 question

    Hello hive,
I have a Gen 3, G19 that I would like to get a red dot put on... I keep reading about needing to “mill” the slide? Anyone have first hand knowledge on that? Would it be better to purchase an aftermarket slide that is already milled for a red dot? Names?

    thank you,
    bear

I had Tim at DangerLee do my slide on my 34. Brought my RMR and slide and he had it done in a week. Or you can trade the 19 for the MOS version that’s already fitting for a RDS from the factory.

Not interested in the MOS. If I traded I would owe money anyways that in my mind wouldn’t be worth it. I can’t do that right now. Mind if I ask ballpark figure for the work Tim did for you? PM me if needed.

I would guess its likely going to be a wash between paying for machine work or a new slide or upgrading to an MOS model.

ready cut slides start in the mid $100's. Shoot someones glock with RDS before you do it. OR go low budget https://www.brownells.com/optics-mou...prod41850.aspx

I would avoid the MOS models altogether. Something about a steel screw holding a $500 optic threaded into less than 1/8” of aluminum on a reciprocating slide does not inspire confidence. Pick an optic and then get someone to mill your slide. +1 on Tim at Danger Lee doing the work.

I’m not understanding the concern, since it’s screwed in why would it be a problem? Or is it just the concern that the screw could work itself out and throw the site, etc.? I’ve seen a ton of pistols recently with red dots attached.
