I'm with you on most of that. I think though, at this point, the talking heads gather 'round their respective KoolAid bowls instead.

    Yes!

I wasn't saying you are trying to take a middle ground. I was saying, to your point, strip away emotion and look at the facts. A person isn't left with anything in the middle to not care.

I guess people can ignore the facts, but like I said, this is front page news. Just that the news is different depending on where you go.

I'll disagree. Watergate was what was overblown as a "crisis". CREEP did nothing more than what the Democrats going back to JFK (and probably back to FDR but it's been documented back to JFK) had been doing when it came to bugging the other party's offices and their operation was intended to get political intelligence they could use for the campaign. One reason Nixon reacted the way he did was that he thought it was common knowledge that kind of activity had been going on and therefore underestimated the reaction and spin.

This effort got official wiretap authorizations knowingly based on fraudulent evidence that seemed to have been designed to find some way to bring criminal charges against members of the administration or campaign who wouldn't otherwise have been looked at. They even knowingly leaked dossier information they knew to be false so they could cite the "independent" press reports as corroboration for their FISA requests. This case IMO is much more serious undermining of Constitutional rights and misuse of official powers. The wiretaps they generated from this were the basis for the perjury traps they laid in for Michael Flynn.

The burden of proof for the govt. to investigate its citizens via FISA should be huge. Americans don't trust their government, and information like this certainly reaffirms that distrust.

Actually, from what I've read getting a FISA warrant for surveillance on a US citizen is a very complicated process with a lot of oversight. That's one reason this is such a big deal. Once Trump was elected it became a bigger deal because the number of lies and misinformation fed to the court had to increase to cover their tracks.

The other possibility is the FISA judge was in on it. I'm gonna go out on a limb and speculate that's not the case.
