    He was shot in Thornton but drove past a lot of hospitals to take him to Denver Health. Why?

    Denver Health is a Premier Level One Trauma facility. Other hospitals were on the way but they are not trained or equipped for such injuries. Denver Health is the best of the best in the Rocky Mountain area. There are air ambulances stationed in Fire Stone, Aurora Medical Center and St Anthony's. Those assets may not have been available. RIP and thank you for your service.

    Closer hospitals are not equipped to handle that type of casualty.

    Honestly, if I was sick I probably wouldn't go to some of those closer hospitals...

    I see. I was just asking, because it seemed like the thing to do would be the closest hospital. But I guess his injuries were bad enough that they needed a top Hospital. Too bad they couldn't save him.

    Went to bed hearing that one of the suspects had been caught but this morning there are still two at large.
