    Default Adams County Deputy killed by gunfire

    HEATH GUMM

    Deputy Heath Gumm was shot and killed during a foot pursuit near 88th Avenue and Dawson Street in Thorton. Deputies had responded to a disturbance call around 7:30 p.m. before becoming involved in the foot pursuit of the subject. The male subject opened fire on the deputies, fatally striking Deputy Gumm in the chest.

    The subject was later apprehended, and a search continued for two additional subjects.

    Deputy Gumm served with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office since 2013. He is survived by his wife and family.

    For many on this board this hits a lot closer to home. This state is grieving terrible with two deputies lost in the metro area in less than a month.

    Our society and its historical values are crumbling. So sad to see another officer fall in the line of duty. Prayers go out to the deputy's family.
