Why not just have SNAP provide only pet food - wet, even. Then we will see how many people are really in need and how many are just lazy.

As someone who benefited greatly from .gov handouts as a child (that is to say I've seen first-hand how it worked & could be manipulated) I can tell you that the system is beyond broken and what used to be a massive amount of people taking advantage of it behind closed doors is now even more doing it in the open and even bragging about it.
In a time when we should figure out a way to decrease entitlements it sure seems like all we're doing is trying to give more.

Why should a person who can't feed himself be treated any differently from someone who can?

Wow, that was hard, my head hurts.
I read a UBI discussion where a Commie actually argued that work should be a choice and not a requirement to survive. IOW, everyone has the same outcome with all needs being met and individuals get to choose if they want to work.
Yup. She said "because most people will want to work." She also probably raged at Romney's 47% comment, because it was true, and we all know it.
