Default More Blue State Taxes in Taxorado

Tax, err fee to bypass TABOR, over personal responsibility.

Not that Europeans have the same Constitutional protections we do, but a friend of mine from Germany was saying that employers are less likely to hire women since they are required to give them so much leave and assist them in numerous ways to make life easy for them and hold their job. SO they just hire men instead so they don't have to provide as much support

Could this state get any more fucked up? Why do Dims think our paychecks are their personal playgrounds?!?

This would be devastating for small businesses that pay W2. We can't really take breaks but would see a .33% reduction in pay.

And once again, Feminists raid men's paychecks because all we know men won't see that benefit while being forced to fund it. Never once did I have a corp job were I could take leave like this. I would have been shown the door. Did get to cover female coworkers jobs while they took FMLA plenty of times (in addition to my own). But that's only equal, right?

Even as a woman I'd be pissed. Every worker has to fund this every year, every paycheck, but getting a benefit requires a qualified event.

Thank God we have a GOP Senate. There's a chance this can get stopped.

Nothing is stopping any business that believes in this policy from doing so. It's not like Judy Amabile could face federal charges for paying some woman to stay home w/ her new child. Heck, I think USAA already does not only maternity leave but paternity as well (unsure -- seem to recall that). But if they were to say it's not financially possible for them, what makes them think it's financially possible for any other business or even the tax payers themselves?

However, no fear. I'm doing my part by having my wife stay at home with our little guys. Saves us money and keeps me satisfied that when I see a mark, bruise, etc. on my kids, I can get the straight scoop: "He was knocked over by his brother," "he pulled over the side table on himself," "he was running in the back yard and tripped," etc. Crazy idea, I know, to engage in behaviors which were normal not even 60 years ago.

Exactly! Taking control away from businesses might take care of employee compensation but it doesn't take care of the business. Who is filling in for these absent workers?

Will the business adjust sick and vacation/person days? There is no law mandating vacation/personal days that I'm aware of. My last vacation was June 2016. I am lucky to get one every two-three years.

Will your paycheck be exempt because you have a fulltime caregiver? Nope. You and your wife have to subsidize this stupidity!

Honestly, once I get about a year warming the seat in our NOC, I plan to leave CO for either a higher level network engineer position or "entry" level Security. So, we will not be subsidizing it for very long.

As a man who may be unemployed soon, i welcome this bit of advantage I'll have over female candidates.

Read about half the article, nothing even remotely made sense for business.

So what if my or your employer already offers this type of leave, would I be exempt from paying this tax? Fvck no! Would I get a pay raise to offset the employer cost saving by having state paid leave? Hell fvking no!!!

This state and all the do gooders need to go mind their own business.

Btw, this would create 200+ additional state employees to run the program. And once started, as it gets abused, the fee would increase to cover the costs, must like the CBI fee. Also free from TABOR spending limits.

I'm on FMLA right now. I don't expect my company or everyone earning a paycheck to finance my time away from work. That is what insurance is for (Short & Long Term Disability Insurance), and that is my responsibility, not the government's.

This is anti-business and pro big government.
