Default Ever have one of those days...

    ...where everything just goes right?

I started trying to focus on the positive after hearing the Florida news. This is the result of how my day went after checking my attitude and realizing (what I already know, of course) some people are having a far worse day and that maybe I should check my attitude:

*Rainy day in the valley. Great! At least it isn't snowing.
*Get an out-of-gas call up in the mountains where it is snowing. Heavily. But, hey. I have a job so there's that.
*Chain up to get to the house, fill the tank, all is good. Homeowner is so happy that I got there quickly he gave me two HUGE, wild caught, Alaskan King salmon filets. About 3 lbs. Freakin' awesome!
*Finish the day early and go home on time.
*Get an email from the youngest. He's in Korea. He's a huge hockey fan and scored tickets to the USA v Canada women's game. Very happy he gets to experience that. Plus I Googled his crush...Hilary Knight. Yowsa!
*Mrs BG says she was talking to a co-worker about cleaning up our creek bed and how bad the brush and debris is down there. Co-worker suggests renting a grapple bucket for the tractor. She asks me about grapple buckets so we watch a few YouTube videos. She tells me we should just buy one with the extra cash she's getting from a part-time job she's doing. Wife and I spend Valentine's Day evening over a nice dinner of leftovers talking about tractor implements. Romance is alive even after almost 29 years.
*Boss calls after hours. That is NEVER good. Except today. Seems the company "re-evaluated" the pay level of a few employees based on performance. I was one of the few. I got a 15% pay raise effective back to the 11th.
*I have several choices of good bourbon in the cabinet to choose from.
*And finally, not even Bert's smart-ass comment (yeah, OK...I chuckled, but damned if I'm gonna tell him) about my Chevy in the DIY thread can get to me after the day I had.

So, yeah.... My day went much better than some and I'm thankful.

I have been very thankful over the past couple of years. It is almost surreal. I'm normally used to life kicking me in the teeth on a regular basis. Maybe this issue I'm having with buying a house is a sign that I shouldn't get "too comfortable".

There is a lot of power in positive thinking. I wish there were a lot more of it. It's not nearly as contagious as negative thinking. Glad you had a good day.

Life has taught me It could ALWAYS be worse. Keep your head up and keep on keepin' on. We have much to be thankful for.

Rotten bastage, I guess I'm grudgingly glad you had a good turn around day. But only because I know the love shared over dinner and tractors.

Glad you had a great day! I could certainly afford to be more positive on a day to day basis.

    Excellent day.

I wouldn’t wish cancer on my worst enemy, but the one gift it gave me that I wish I could share with everyone, is that perspective. It would be awesome in the thick of sickness to come in to work and hear people squabble about the most minuscule BS. You could think to yourself in an almost condescending way, “That’s so cute how you think those are problems.”

The further I get, the more I lose that perspective, but I do try to reframe the mindset back to that.

I think that perspective is why I love the song, "Live Like You Were Dying". So many of the things we worry about day to day or week to week are just petty in the big scheme of things.
