    Indeed.

The mantra I had was “one fun thing.” Every week, no matter how I felt, my wife and I made a point to do one fun thing. We went to museums and shows and restaurants and just generally did the stuff I never “had time for.” Sometimes, I was sick enough it wasn’t much. I wish I could say we’ve maintained that ever since. Those were some great memories of a less than great time.

I call those 1st world problems. Most of us can easily find clean water to drink, food to eat, and a sheltered place to sleep at night. A trip to Mexico City back in the '80s really reset my understanding of how some people scrape by one day to the next with nothing more than a cardboard box for shelter.

It's "you're". And I'll be driving my wife's Chevy, potpourri and all, after I drop my truck off at the dealership tomorrow. So there.

I fell while hiking alone in the forest recently and shattered a knee cap, broke some ribs, a foot, hit my head pretty good, a few other injuries. Tried to walk out, no go. I had a dying cell and no service. I managed to get a call out despite my location and as I waited for rescue and tried to control bleeding with a belt, the only thing on my mind was my wife. Thinking that I might never see her again, that my life's plans might get snatched in an evening with no warning. Gave me an immense sense of perspective as I wondered why so many other things had power over me daily, yet could not seem less important at the moment. Luckily I have carried that mentality with me a few months later as I relearn to walk and run. For me being alive is a blessing. Sorry for the rant, but yes, most people are so blessed they can't even see their blessing.
