Registering a non functional vehicle that needs an emmisions test. What kind of a pain will that be?

Why not just wait until it is driveable again? The max fine for a lapse is $100. Will the hassle of working with DMV to find some sort of registration (that may not exist) be worth more than $100 maximum?

I am not opposed to that and in truth that is likely what will happen, I just am curious if such an animal exist.. since the state treats it as an ownership tax instead of a true usage registration.

There's no requirement to register any vehicle until it's road worthy. We have 3 unregistered / current plated on the property, when speaking with DMV IF i needed to move one of them. They said come down with valid ins card, get a temp tag, walk out. Until it's ready for emission testing (if required) don't waste your time or money
