An 80% gives me the same functional thing as my ARs/lowers (of which I have several and one for each child). A feature/function ban would still apply to finished lowers.

A finished lower presents the same dilemma as a manufactured lower in a ban.

You're thinking, when you should have known this day would come. It's not about limiting mag capacity, type of semi auto, triggers or other gun related items. It's about confiscation and outright gutting of the 2nd Amendment by emotional Fiat.

I agree. And I've pointed out, this is no longer a debate, but an prelude to political violence. It is "battlespace" prepping.

In my mind it will be incremental gutting of 2A and I have no idea how quickly it will happen. They will go for the most capable weapons against them and them and keep going. As I've stated: Rifles win wars. Mag fed semi-autos are modern rifles. This is why they have built populist support to ban them and pimp school shootings with black rifles (to keep the pressure on). The facts on "gun safety" betray this push (more people are murdered with pistols)--it is only rational in the context of political violence.

During the incremental gutting there will likely be an "oh shit" threshold society crosses and people (of some unknown quantity/quality) finalize realize we are in deep and decide action is needed. The Libs want this realization to happen after complete disarmament or as close to it as possible.

This is how the game is played and why 2A (the hidden hand of balance) has held bad people back for generations. It is a significant obstacle that cannot be dismantled head-on.

If your 80% receivers/ARs are buried they are worthless. You aren't getting that gun into a fight without significant lead time.

If you have, say an M1, you can get a gun into a fight quickly. If you can't shoot and move, but have a bolt gun, you are valuable.
