    I'm guessing he will be back to pick up his mail and package. Maybe a note taped to the door stating he needs to contact Leslie Leslie by the end of the business day or the next step is the batf/FBI/police.

    If I had to guess, he tried to complete the work and totally botched the job, or perhaps even destroyed the pistol in the process. Now he's trying to delay until he can come up with a solution. Just a guess, though. the note thing has merit, I'll be happy to do that if asked by the OP.
