Sounds reasonable but when has that option ever been on the table? Compromise has been one-way only and everyone in this debate should know that. Gun grabbers certainly do.

    1934 > 1968 > 1986 > 1994

Notice how not a single piece of gun legislation ever protects guns/function outside of the ban. Nothing draws a definitive line. Would a bump stock ban also include language that semi-auto rifles are protected going forward?

It was implied after 1934 that firearms in common use were protected and gun control was only legitimate in restricting dangerous and unusual weapons. Since we can't seem to get this test re-instated there are no boundaries around what they can take.

At the risk of needing a tinfoil hat! I believe the reports that Russia, using our social media, launched an all-out assault on the recent election with no other goal than to disrupt the US by simply pitting Americans against each other. With that in mind why would it be much of a stretch to see Russia using their social media bot system to drive a wedge in gun ownership in this country by making it appear most us are against the only obstacle, the NRA. Or, maybe it’s just an attempt to get Americans to fear gun control and begin buying mass quantities of Russian guns and ammo. I’m sure their gun business is down as well because of the resent election here. Either way I think the Russians or Chinese are, somehow, involved in this current gun control issue, and our social media mob rule is playing right into their hand.

The gun control groups will never give up, throwing a bone is something that has always been done. Since we don’t have a parallel universe we may never know if not giving an inch would have worked against things like full auto. Bump stocks are a recent development and not something that has any long-standing tradition in this country. Bump stocks could have just as easily been shot down (pun intended) by the BATF when they were first submitted, and no one would have given it a second thought.

I would like to see gun owners get something when we give but it doesn't happen. Our representatives always want to prove they can be reasonable on gun control and it never works. The gun control groups are content with the death of guns by a thousand cuts. Personally, I would like to see reciprocity in exchange for bump stocks and moving the age to buy center fire semi auto rifles to 21. But our representatives will likely give in and not get anything.
And what bone has the gun control group thrown that keeps you interested in throwing them a bone? The fact that they still deign to allow you to have a gun? Not good enough.

FUDD's, of which you sound like one in this post, are more dangerous to our 2A rights than most GC advocates.

The ATF has clearly stated that bump stocks do NOT violate any laws on the books. Allowing the "if it saves one child" stupidity to bring stricter laws, what you're proposing to do with giving up bump stocks, is the precedent that will be needed to make a functional ban like "semi-autos are evil and shouldn't be allowed" stick.

The fact that you are looking for an external source is laughable.

Soros, Bloomberg, the Clintons, etc are much closer, and more effective, at driving these plans to undermine, and eventually eliminate, the BoR altogether.

They may have used the Russians/Chinese, but they paid for their services in either Money or Goods (Uranium).

I was less amused than anyone with the NRA tossing bump stocks under the bus after Las Vegas and still think it was a tremendous mistake to give up something with absolutely nothing in return. That said, I sent NRA-ILA a donation today. I can't drown thinking I didn't at least try to help a little.

I'm in about the same boat.

I sincerely disapprove of their actions on some things, but with the coming battle the more players we have fighting for our side (NRA, GOA, RMGO (despite Dudleys BS), etc) the better off we will be.

Wow Grant, it’s always amusing and speaks volumes when some people are incapable of articulating their position on an issue without name calling. I love to hear differing points of view on issues. A little back and forth on an issue is fun and people who are just listening learn something. I like to hear people explain their position and where I’m wrong on an issue. With your truculence, “laughable” “stupidity” “FUDD”, I don’t hear a word you are saying. I do wander what your vitriol would look like to someone not on your team. Something that my dad said to me comes to mind “In a battle of wits never engage with an unarmed person, it’s not fair to them”. Have a nice day.

    And locked.

    Should be self explanatory.
