Yeah, no big hit for them, plus they quit selling handguns a long time ago as well. Friends don’t let friends buy anything at Dick’s.

How did the policy change at JAX five years ago impact them? I don’t have a store near me so I’ve never been in one.

I’ve kinda been wondering that lately as well. I used to love that store. I haven’t stepped inside their stores since they chose to stop selling AR’s.

They are enjoying the bull market like all others whIle it lasts.
Soon they will have to privatize their company like Dell.

    I’d be shocked. $0.02
If they go down, it’ll be the Sports Authority issue (sales vs. massive overhead) vs. anything to do with guns.
    Basically agreeing with Opie.

I’m pretty neutral on Dick’s, personally. Honestly never think of them for anything firearms, I’d certainly sooner shop locally (edit: or online) for anything like that. This is true for everything: In all categories, you’d be better shopping at a specific shop. It is big box, and therefore sort of ridiculous especially for guns, bicycles, fishing, snowboard, hunting, camping, etc, etc. But it isn’t horrible for sporting goods like bats/balls in a pinch, or equipment (treadmills), or for “athleisure” clothes or shoes on sale. Even for these, you can do better, but they aren’t quite as silly as buying guns at a place with a basketball for a logo.

I totally agree with gun sales will not dent their bottom line. Top line during panic buying would make some different on revenue.

They have history of making knee jerk business decision. Not just on quit selling msr, but on golf and UA as well.
They also have labor issues (unpaid lunch and no break) for employees, and it has crappy images.

They are constantly losing mkt on specialities and generic/general sporting goods (even their appreals). Looking at their sales per sq-ft for yrs, it looks like they are leaning towards to be large big5.
Now if big5 and Dicks merge (like sears and kmart), it would be "Big Dicks."

Yep, I mostly agree. There is nothing they sell that you can’t find a better or cheaper version of elsewhere. But they are convenient - that is their angle. I wouldn’t be shocked to see them go away, but I also don’t hold any ill will to them.

I don’t shop there much at all, but I also don’t mind strolling through. I think I got an avalanche hat there a few months back - before that, I honestly couldn’t remember. Big5 is long gone in Golden, but they were like the discount version.
